What is the California Democracy Act?

The California Democracy Act is a ballot initiative which, with your help, will be on the November 2010 ballot and will repeal the two-thirds rules and restore democracy to California.  The California Democracy Act says only this:

“All legislative actions on revenue and budget must be determined by a majority vote.”

Because the two-thirds rules allows a third of either house of the California legislature to hold the budget process hostage, necessary funds for higher education, infrastructure, and social services are withheld from California. This undemocratic and dysfunctional system is breaking California’s promise to its citizens.

We have seen our fees raised 32 percent, our classes cut, and our standard of education degraded. To save our educations and to save our state, we must stand up and fight for majority rule and democracy.
